1856Grade 3 - 5:00 min
Wind Band - The wind band Groussbus (Luxembourg) celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2016. Started as a choir but later turned into a wind band. To celebrate this happy event Tim Kleren was asked to write a composition. It had to become a reflection of the modern age and yet of the history of the band. 160 years ago there was only one choir in the village and some singers could not get along with the others. They just founded a new choir. Today both bands are getting along again and to emphasize that musically the musicians are singing in the middle part of the composition. |

Beginning of the Piece describes the morning on the "Reebierg" (place where the Tower is located); -then we see and listen to the Music describing the Tower -celebrating a feast, but in an old traditional style (on the Reebierg, like 300 years ago) -fragments of the folk song, will be introduced (1 musician is on the Reebierg near the Tower, and the other musicians are gradually coming to this place) -singing and playing the Folk Song named: "Garnecher Lidd" on the mountain. -Melody of the Tower will come back -"This is our moment"- describes the moment now on the stage, while showing the musical level and quality of this Band, at the Concert. |
ContinuationGrade 5 - 13:30 Min
Wind Band - Fanfare Band - The key element of this composition consists of 4 notes: Bb, B, F and D. They are always present in the whole work. Be it as a chain (transposed or normal), development in the chords, or as a reversal. These notes have a major and a diminished chord. Individually they sound trivial but together they give a tension that is felt throughout the whole work. The shape of the composition is very exciting, solo, touched and concerned (Impensierito) or simply powerful packaged as if it were a suite. The new style of writing, unlike before, provides the composer with another way to express his feeling in music. A kind of Continuation. The composition is dedicated to Marco Pütz as a thank you. He was Kleren’s teacher's in instrumentation and orchestration. HAS ALREADY BEEN PLAYED BY THE MILITARY BAND OF LUXEMBOURG, EUROPEEN UNION YOUTH WIND ORCHESTRA (COND.ucted BY JAN COBER), De Hoop Fanfare Stellendam and many others... IDEAL WORK FOR COMPETITIONS |
